Beginning this month Memorial Mortuaries & Cemeteries began to offer a green burial option to the families that we serve. As an approved provider by the Green Burial Council, we are the first group of funeral homes and cemeteries in Utah to be certified to offer the public Eco-friendly options for burial and cremation.
As a select provider of green burial we provide everything necessary for a graveside burial within a green cemetery, or conventional cemetery. Bundled services include storage, transportation, supervision of the burial, and the filing of all necessary documentation, permits and certificates. A burial container, which can be either a shroud or biodegradable casket, is available at an additional cost. Formaldehyde-based embalming is prohibited, though a funeral with a [private family] viewing can be arranged for an additional charge.
Memorial Mortuaries and Cemeteries have dedicated a special section of Lakeview Memorial Cemetery as a
Green Burial Ground. This section of the cemetery will remain in its natural state and meets the guidelines for Green Burial set by the Green Burial Council. Lakeview is located along the foothills of Bountiful, Utah.
If you already have property in another cemetery, we can still provide this service. There are also several options in the way of memorial containers (urns) for cremation of which can be used to bury in our special green burial section. Feel free to contact us to learn more about your green burial options.

At Memorial, we are on the cutting edge of our profession. This service along with many others help us stay intouch with what the community wants and allows us to show you why were are different from all other funeral homes in the state. I am Brandon W. Burningham CFSP, CPC and I though you might like to know.
Yeah! I am thrilled to hear about a green cemetery in Utah! Thanks for being cutting edge and anticipating what consumers are beginning to want!
I will be sure to spread the word!
This is a great beginning to what I am sure will be the future of burials. As this country necessarily becomes more green, you will be available to people right here in Utah who value the beauty of this state.
This is an excellent idea! Thank you for offering this service, Utah is a beautiful place.

My question in reading all of this material is about the cost. Since the expense doesn’t seem like it would be as high, what is the cost involved with a green burial?
