Memorial Estates Cemeteries and Mortuaries offers many options for you. Keep in mind that when the University of Utah cremates your remains they could be buried or placed in a masoleum. Either with or without your cremains, you could purchase a cremation space for $598 and purchase a marker for it. Most bronze markers with grainite foundations are about $2000. We also have many masoleums. Cremation Niches in masoleum are usually $1095 to 3000. depending on location and the price includes a small bronze name plate.
Please let me know if you would like additional information.

Sincerely;
Ron Holt

Since 2 of our sons are doctors, my husband and I are not only organ donors, but also are donating our bodies to the U of U Medical facility. After their use, they cremate them. My children, however, have stated that they would like us to have a marker of some kind in a cemetary. I'm trying to find a cemetary that sells smaller plots rather than the full size needed for a coffin.
Any suggestion from you would be appreciated.

Thanks for that post. it was very informative. This makes sense since the funeral directors have such vested interest.

I have been researching green funerals/burials. I live in Southern CO and so far there is no preserve of nature for green burials in CO. A development in Denver is under the planning stage but I don't want to be buried on the front range. Anyway, I am looking for scenic land preservation green options and see Bountiful, UT is one of the closest to where I am currently. I saw the link to the blog hoping for more info on this subject but the Pet title caught my eye. I think it is a wonderful idea with great financial possibilities. I liked your words about pets in your family and your experience. As a animal lover, I have rescued many neglected and abandoned animals and they indeed are my family. Best wishes to you and the Pet Memorial Garden. If I choose Bountiful, UT as my final resting place I would definitely look at the pet burial options. Michele

My question in reading all of this material is about the cost. Since the expense doesn't seem like it would be as high, what is the cost involved with a green burial?

Thank you for some ideas of how to navigate this difficult time. Grandma died on Dec.14 and my aunt on Dec. 19. We've just buried them and now we are trying to figure out what to do with holiday celebrations, especially Christmas Eve (which was always at grandma's house).
